What is a pendant light?

A pendant light is a single fixture suspended from the ceiling by a cord, rod or chain, usually with one shade or light source. It gives focused, lowered light and works as a design feature distinct from a multi-arm chandelier.

How low should a pendant light hang?

Over a kitchen island or dining table, hang pendants roughly 75–90cm above the surface so they light the area without blocking sightlines. In an open walkway, keep the bottom of the fixture at least 2.1m from the floor. All NYRA LONDON pendants have adjustable drops to fine-tune this.

How many pendant lights do I need?

It depends on the span. As a guide for an island: two pendants for 1.2m, three for 1.8m, and three to four for 2.4m+. Space them evenly and keep at least 15cm from each end.

What's the difference between a pendant light and a chandelier?

A pendant is typically a single suspended light or shade, while a chandelier has multiple arms or lights on one frame. Pendants suit islands, tables and smaller focal points; chandeliers suit larger rooms and statement spaces.
